It was not until 1972, at the behest of...A proficient seamstress, Marion Tuu'luq embarked on her journey of creating cloth-based art around the mid-1960s, following her relocation to Qamani’tuaq. It was not until 1972, at the behest of Jack and Sheila Butler, that Tuu'luq delved into the realm of drawing. However, she did not produce a vast amount of drawings, as she found the medium more challenging compared to sewing.
In this print, a central bird alights — its wings curved upward — as it makes its ascent away from the two foxes that flank at left and right. Given the relative size of the bird to its surrounding predator, we read the bird's escape as a successful one as it appears to approach closer to the foreground toward the skies.Provenance
