    Pitseolak Niviaqsi, who was the son of the renowned sculptor and graphic artist, Niviaqsi (1908-1959), unmistakably carried on his father's gifted legacy. As an adept lithographer, Pitseolak Niviaqsi devoted the majority of his time to the printmaking workshops in Cape Dorset, generating several hundreds of prints from the mid-1970s onward. As a result of his commitments in the craft studio, Pitseolak Niviaqsi didn't create a vast volume of sculptures, yet his talent and creative brilliance are surely comparable to the most celebrated Kinngait sculptors. In this work, the caribou seems frozen in a strut, his head perked upward as if attuned to a sound in the distance
