Children Chasing Dogs is a dynamic and action-packed stonecut, remarkable for its horizontal format. Created during Parr’s "Third Period," this work marks a fascinating evolution in his artistic style. The figures, both human and animal, are rendered with greater anatomical realism compared to his works from just two years prior, signalling a shift in his visual storytelling.

What truly stands out is the way Parr’s vigorous drawing strokes, so alive on paper, are exquisitely transformed into the medium of stonecut by Iyola Kingwatsiak. The textures ripple with energy, each line alive with motion and intent. In a wonderfully comic touch, one child clings desperately to a dog, seemingly airborne in the chaos of the chase. The scene is a symphony of motion, leading our eyes inexorably toward the runaway sled dog—mouth open, tail stiff, and every muscle taut with the thrill of escape. It’s a moment of unrestrained energy, rendered with both precision and a sense of humour that makes it quintessentially Parr.
