Kananginak Pootoogook, renowned for his realistic depictions of Arctic existence, here captures the formidable presence of a muskox. Known for documenting Arctic wildlife with extreme fidelity, he portrays the creature with a commanding aura. Its dense fur is rendered with meticulous detail by Kananginak and faithfully translated into print by Qiatsuk Niviaqsi. The composition, simple yet powerful, places the animal centrally, conveying its significance in the Arctic ecosystem. The colours are subdued yet rich, with earthy tones that mirror the natural hues of the tundra.
