Corpulent Seal is carved very much in the mainstream Baker Lake style as a fulsome figure of generous proportions. So chubby that we can hardly imagine it being able to move around on land, this seal is yet beautifully proportioned as a sculpture and nicely finished. Already appealing as a subject, this seal is given further charm and even humour with the addition of beady little antler eyes.
Provenance
Collection of John and Joyce Price, Seattle.
