His father, Aqjangajuk was a renowned sculptor and his brother, Alariaq is also a carver. Pudlalik was greatly influenced by his father's work. "I watched my father as he carved, he taught me. I did my first carving when I was twelve years old. It was a small seal, since then I have been carving, not all the time, but whenever I felt up to it" [1]. Unlike his father who preferred to carve oversized dancing walruses and drummers, Pudlalik prefers to work on a smaller scale. His works are also very delicately detailed and often include elements of transformation. This incredible opus offers us a meandering composition where walruses and spirit heads are interwoven in a sculptural tour de force.
