Although many recent works from the...This charming otter by an unsigned hand most likely hails from Sanikiluaq (Belcher Island) or neighbouring Kuujjuarapik, which also employed the same sedimentary stone. Although many recent works from the region tend to be rather formulaic depictions of seals or loons, the 1950s and 60s saw quite a variety of subject matter. This lovely sculpture displays a keen knowledge of the animal, and it is presented with sensitivity and elegance. Simple yet spectacular!Provenance
