This print narrates the tale of a dog that stands on the brink of a pool of water. The dog is parched with thirst, but each time he approaches the water's edge to drink, he is confronted by his own reflection, which fills him with fear. Despite his intense thirst, the dog repeatedly withdraws, too frightened to quench his thirst. Eventually, his desperation for water overpowers his fear. The dog finally drinks from the pool, shattering the hold of his imaginary foe.
