Tookoome’s 1973 stonecut The World of Man and the World of Animals Come Together in the Shaman was used by Canada Post on a postage stamp for their Inuit series “Spirits”. Most of Tookoome’s earliest images depict fantastic scenes from the Inuit spirit world. Qadruhuaq seems to be a shape shifting spirit helper supporting a supine shaman figure. This wonderful image is also in the collections of the Winnipeg Art Gallery and the National Gallery of Canada.Provenance
