On her sculpture, Talooki’s strands of beads are typically “shorthand” for women’s traditional ceremonial amautiit. How wonderful then to be presented with one of Talooki’s magnificent (if infrequent) dolls where she obviously enjoyed experimentations in “longhand.” If Talooki’s stone sculptures are to be considered minimalist, we would posit that her dolls are decidedly maximalist!Provenance
Acquired by the current private collection in Ontario during her visit to the region, where she provided on-site training for community airport operators.
