In this print, we witness the story of the Raven stealing the wind. According to the tale, Raven, noticing that a powerful chief kept the wind locked away in a box, devised a plan to release it. After gaining the chief’s trust, Raven seized the moment, opening the box and unleashing the wind upon the world.

Here, Art Thompson depicts a scene of action: we witness the decisive moment that Raven liberates the wind. Raven’s white inked form is pushed back by the powerful gusts, which are given life through a face blowing streams of air, capturing the intensity of the release.
