Although best known for her Picasso-esque visages on Woman and Snow Bird (1970) and Eskimo Leader (1972), Pitaloosie’s great contribution was her decades long fascination with birds. In an oeuvre comprised of almost 200 graphic works, Pitaloosie produced dozens of fabulous bird images. While she produced stand out images in every decade, our favourites are her works from the 1970’s of which Tundra Hawk is a sterling example.
