Here, a central baby bird, whose gaze meets ours directly, is flanked by two larger birds, perhaps the chick’s parents. Their triangular arrangement is set against a rich blue background. Printmaker Lukta Qiatsuk uses minimal colour to highlight the stark contrast, emphasizing the clean, graphic beauty of this charming scene. Qatjuayuk was the father of the famous sculptor, Davie Atchealak.References: Despite limited contributions to the print program, Qatjuayuk Atchealak has several drawings dated to c. 1959-1960 in the National Gallery (access. Nos. 35554, 35553, 35556, and 35557).
