This woven Tabasco bottle is made by an unidentified contemporary Unangax̂ (Aleut) artist and dates to the 1980’s or 1990’s. Woven from rye grass using a twining technique, with two bands of an “eye-holes” weave: one on the base of the neck and one on the body. The body of the bottle is embroidered with blue and red dyed thread in triangular shapes, possibly representing a flower. The lid has three tiers, each embroidered with dyed thread in blue, red and white/silver.
