Finely woven with cedar bark and spruce root in a plain twining weave, with dyed grass false embroidery on the inside. The exterior of the hat is painted in black, blue, and green pigments with faint hints of red, depicting a baleen whale in the act of bubble feeding (as evidenced by its distended jaw). The crown of the hat has a slight indentation to represent the whale’s blow hole. The inside of the hat has a headband woven in to keep the hat secure on the wearer’s head.
