While he produced a wide variety of subjects over his decades-long career, the caribou seems to have been closest to his heart. Given the unyielding nature of the local stone, there are relatively few standing caribou by the artist who opted instead to portray resting caribou in a myriad of poses. Isluanik’s works are also more highly finished than most Arviat sculptures.
