Mungitok was only seventeen years old when he found himself at the forefront of the first graphics experiments in Kinngait, a moment that would become foundational to Inuit printmaking history. He is credited with creating five of the earliest prints, a number matched by his contributions to the inaugural 1959 collection, including the present Canada Geese. 

Compared to his other multi-bird offering in this collection, Blue Geese on Snow, this print reaches toward something entirely different: a careful exploration of spatial relationships. Here, the overlapping forms and the deliberate variation in scale tether the geese not just to one another but to an implied environment—a quiet suggestion of place and depth in what might otherwise be a flat field of paper.
