David Arnasungaaq began carving stone as a teenager, and his carvings began appearing in exhibitions in the early 1980s. It should come as no surprise that he often emulated his famous father, Barnabus, in both his choice of subject matter and in style. This Muskox is a small but mighty sculpture that beautifully captures the spirit and strength of the animal, and of the elder artist as well. Fitting perfectly in one’s hand, the carving simply oozes charm and personality. It would, no doubt, have made Barnabus proud.
