At an intimate scale befitting its subject, this artwork captures a moment of profound tenderness. Every detail, no matter how small, is executed with care: the mother’s braid delicately rendered, cascading over her hood and down her back with remarkable precision. The child, safely nestled in the hood, brings a tiny hand to its mouth—perhaps instinctively sucking its thumb, as babies often do. To our eye, this diminutive work invites us to see it not only as a sculpture but as a talisman. For what greater magic exists than a mother’s love, rendered here in the purity of form and the evocative power of simplicity?
