The quartet is here portrayed in a seemingly whimsical arrangement, with each beast positioned back-to-back around a central point. While this setup may appear imaginative at first glance, yet it mirrors the muskoxen's instinctive defensive circle, traditionally formed to shield their young from predators. With only four muskoxen shown and their calves out of sight, it's understandable that one might overlook this detail. However, the number four is precisely what allows Anguhadluq to showcase his ingenious application of mixed perspective. It becomes evident that, in the process of the original drawing, he rotated the paper to capture each muskox from a unique angle.
