This pole showcases Jimmy John's distinctive chip-carving style, a technique he fully embraced later in his lengthy and successful career. At the top, an eagle appears alighting against an imagined headwind, its wings poised in a dynamic upward sweep. Below the bird is a sleeping woman, her eyes gently closed, hands folded before her, and adorned with a woven cedar headband and robes. This serene figure is a design Jimmy John learned from Mungo Martin. The pole is mounted on a chip-carved base featuring what is likely a split eagle design, grounding the work in rich detail.
