The basket and lid are constructed with bundled warps of shredded willow bark coiled with grass in loose interlocking stitches to create a honeycomb pattern. Baskets of this style are known as mingqaaq and were commonly made for the tourist trade. The tight fitting, knob-top lid and round shape are very charming and give the basket an almost beehive-like appearance.
