Here, three birds are sketched...This restrained composition, signed “ᐅᔪ” (Uju), points to Thomas Ugjuk as the artist, though it diverges notably from his more familiar, sculptural and graphic style. Here, three birds are sketched in coloured pencil, their forms arranged in a gentle triangular rhythm on an otherwise empty page. The minimalism is striking: no background, no landscape, just line and space. This departure from Ugjuk’s typical approach feels experimental. Perhaps it is an early exercise in balance, observation, and the expressive power of simplicity.
