While likely carved for purely aesthetic reasons, there almost seems to be an intended functionality to this piece as though the dip between the two heads was made to cradle an implement. Although the identity of the artist has been lost to time, we wonder if this might not be an early work by the hand of Josiah Nuilaalik (1928-2005) from Baker Lake.Provenance
Ex. Coll. Mr John Bell.
Mr Bell was the Director of the Innuit Gallery, Toronto.
