She began with garments, an embroidered vest, an appliquéd parka, submitted to the Crafts from Arctic Canada exhibition in 1974, a quiet but confident debut. Around the same time, she turned to making wall hangings, and her bold, pared-down figures soon became unmistakable. Untitled (Worm Spirits), with its vivid colours and simplified forms, captures the essence of her mature style. Her transformation figures are often compared to those of Irene Avaalaaqiaq, her contemporary in both place and spirit.
