He was married to Peggy...Born in 1933 north of Baker Lake, Silas Aittauq spent his early years in the Back River region before settling in Baker Lake around 1960. He was married to Peggy Qablunaaq Aittauq, daughter of the celebrated artist Jessie Oonark. In this print, the figures are so closely nestled they seem to merge: intertwined, intimate, and unmistakably tender. We believe this may be a portrait of Silas and Peggy. A visual expression of partnership, affection, and the closeness of a shared life.
