In this striking image, not only has the Inukshuk made its first appearance, but Kiakshuk has depicted them front and centre. We see four Inuit in the process of either constructing or repairing a group of Inukshuit. Inukshuit often served as navigational landmarks, and their construction reflects Inuit ingenuity. Beyond utility, they embody community and resilience, symbolizing human presence in harsh landscapes. Interestingly, Kiakshuk designed the three Inukshuit that grace Toronto’s Pearson Airport.
Provenance
Collection of John and Joyce Price, Seattle.
