He was not simply a carver of graceful forms but a craftsman with an intuitive understanding of material and mood, unafraid to explore the quieter, more domestic corners of life.
This small, self-contained work is one such moment: a young mother, wide-eyed and composed, holds her two children with gentle resolve. One peeks out calmly from the protective warmth of her hood, while the older child shifts subtly in her arms: fidgeting, but secure. There’s a softness to the composition that transcends scale, a serenity that seems to hum from within the stone itself. In their closeness, in their unspoken bond, Etungat captures something enduring and deeply human.
