This work in particular, while a single figure that is minimally carved, features decoration that is flamboyant and ornate. Multiple stripes over the wearer's shoulders repeat into draped strands of shining green beads, all lovingly and intentionally placed. While the smaller size of the stone could leave minimal space for the beads, they have the feel of being luxurious, rather than crowded, an almost opulent display.
Provenance
Collection of John and Joyce Price, Seattle.
