    Chris Review:

This Miniature Kingfisher Mask on Base by Patrick Amos is a small-format work that preserves the integrity of Nuu-chah-nulth mask design while adapting it for contemporary display. The formline is tightly controlled, rendered in a striking palette dominated by blue, a chromatic reference that signals both water and the bird itself. Hammered cedar bark and feather attachments animate the surface and the eye inlays, likely resin or glass beads, create a focal point that plays with light, a subtle but effective nod to older inlay practices in shell or operculum.
