The feathers sweep outward in bold, confident arcs, less ornamental than declarative. The work distills something essential about Kenojuak Ashevak’s visual language: its grace, its clarity, and its unmistakable sense of independence. There is strength here, not in size or gesture, but in composure. It is unsurprising, then, that Ansgar Walk selected this image for the cover of Kenojuak: The Life Story of an Inuit Artist (1999). It holds its ground, beautifully, assuredly, just as Kenojuak did.
