The creature barrels toward us with unrelenting momentum: back legs flung behind while it bares down on two fur trimmed paws. Yet despite this kinetic energy and the aggressive posture, it is impossible to be fully afraid of this creature. Unruly fur explodes outward in a mane that nearly totally obscures the face. The face below this mop is meticulously carved with Sikkuark’s characteristic precision. With its deep-set frown and dramatically flared nostrils, the sheer theatricality of its expression transforms what could be menacing into something amusing. Even its materials – smooth, pale antler and multi-coloured fur — echo the sentiment of paradox.
