Her work often returned to animals, especially birds, as if drawn again and again to their gestures, their personalities, their symbolic heft.
In Polar Bear and Bird, composition and colour do the heavy lifting. The green-gold gradient of the bear grounds the image, while the bird, rendered in a cooler, textured teal, hovers playfully above. Their shared direction and spacing suggest a kind of camaraderie, as if trotting side by each through some quietly imagined world.
