Spanning nearly two feet across, the work commands space without feeling heavy. The rust-orange soapstone radiates warmth, but it is the movement of the form that draws the eye: a sweeping arc that encircles the central head in a continuous, flowing motion. Inlaid green stones dot the surface with deliberate rhythm, catching the light so that they seem to flicker and shine. At the core, a Janus head looks in two directions, perhaps holding past and future in equal tension. The entire work seems to breathe and swell, its billowing curves lifting like the hymns and folds of the Northern Lights in the sky.
