Among the standout works was Parr’s Another Time, issued at an unprecedented price of $2,000, at the time, the highest release price ever for an Inuit print.
The print is striking not only for its bold design but also for its rare status as a reinterpretation. It reprises The Hunters, released just two years earlier, making it one of the only known instances of an Inuit image being recut and reissued. The differences between the two versions reveal subtle shifts in interpretive emphasis. Iyola Kingwatsiak’s stonecut of The Hunters accentuates Parr’s characteristic crosshatch lines with strong linear clarity, while Lukta Qiatsuq’s block for Another Time handles the same textures with a looser, more irregular touch. Although Parr’s original drawings would have used black lines, the white lines of the print open up a conversation about gesture and fidelity. Lukta’s version may be the more texturally honest, capturing the animated scratch and energy of Parr’s hand during that early 1960s period. Both prints stand as luminous testaments to Parr’s singular draughtsmanship and the interpretive brilliance of Cape Dorset’s early master printmakers.
