The feathery curves encircle the figure like a coronation halo, while golden ochre warms the wings, radiating quiet majesty. Composition and colour conspire to honour a title we feel fitting for Lucy: Queen of Birds. The laurel-like sweep of feathers frames the figure in regal symmetry, while washes of golden ochre evoke both softness and splendour. Though some Kenojuak fans might have words for us on that, this print makes a strong case for coronation.
