Pat Dixon (1938–2015), originally from Skidegate in Haida Gwaii, relocated to Vancouver in 1966, where he began working alongside Pat McGuire, a fellow Haida artist who had already established a...Pat Dixon (1938–2015), originally from Skidegate in Haida Gwaii, relocated to Vancouver in 1966, where he began working alongside Pat McGuire, a fellow Haida artist who had already established a thriving studio and artistic practice. Dixon focused his career almost entirely on argillite, the lustrous black slate found only on Haida Gwaii and revered for its sculptural possibilities.
