Dixon worked almost...Pat Dixon, from Skidegate in Haida Gwaii, moved to Vancouver in 1966 to work alongside Pat McGuire, a fellow Haida artist with an established studio and practice. Dixon worked almost exclusively in this distinctive type of argillite, found only on Haida Gwaii and prized for its fine grain and deep black sheen. This wolf head brooch is a fine example of his work in the material, capturing both the precision of his carving and the intensity of the animal’s face.
