Though flat in composition, the works pulse with movement, each band a scene, each scene a gesture toward narrative. The structure recalls medieval narrative panels, not in content, but in form, inviting the viewer to read the work from left to right, as one might read a text. As the eye travels, the Arctic landscape seems to widen. Every new layer contributes to a growing sense of scale, until the painting feels less like an object and more like a place.Provenance
