Each feather is cut with near-uniform regularity, creating a surface that reads as both decorative and deeply observed. The beak, by contrast, is polished to a higher sheen, offering a subtle visual separation that draws the viewer’s attention to the bird’s alert expression. Wings tuck neatly along the back, their forms integrated into the volume of the body with sculptural clarity. There is nothing stylized here for effect. The artist has studied this bird closely, recording its structure and surface with a careful, unhurried hand and a remarkably keen eye.
