Used...As a constant necessity of northern life, the qulliq (or kudlik), a crescent-shaped stone lamp usually fueled by seal blubber oil, could be forgiven for being viewed as ubiquitous. Used to heat and light Inuit homes, and to cook food, the kudlik was a vital piece of technology. They were also precious possessions which could be passed from one generation to the next. While normally on the larger and heavier side, the diminutive scale of this model further adds to the warmth and charm to this symbol of home.Provenance
