The body is reduced to its essential volume, smoothed into a buoyant form that seems to rest naturally on an unseen surface of water. The incised lines of the tail feathers are understated but deliberate, giving just enough to suggest pattern and structure. Particular attention has been paid to the shape of the beak, which narrows precisely. The artist’s understanding of the bird’s anatomy is evident in every contour, balancing stylization with anatomical clarity.
