In addition to creating over sixty images of his own, he played a vital role behind the scenes, contributing to the production of nearly 200 lithographs throughout the 1970s, ’80s, and ’90s. His technical mastery quietly shaped the aesthetic of an entire generation of printmaking in Cape Dorset. This particular work, based on a photograph by Jimmy Manning, marks a notable departure from Aoudla’s more familiar avian subjects, its composition and tone revealing a different facet of his artistic sensibility.Provenance
