Kugluktuk (formerly Coppermine) is justifiably renowned for its fine sculptures depicting the daily life and activities of the Copper Inuit. In the past, we have described artists such as Ennutsiak...Kugluktuk (formerly Coppermine) is justifiably renowned for its fine sculptures depicting the daily life and activities of the Copper Inuit. In the past, we have described artists such as Ennutsiak as documentarians, preserving in stone images of a way of life in rapid transition. Agnes Topiak is equally deserving of such praise, as her works record for posterity the techniques Inuit used to survive in their harsh environment. While igloo scenes from Coppermine often feature removable lids that allow the viewer to see inside, we especially appreciate how this work emphasizes the collaborative process of igloo construction.Provenance
