The figure’s body is positioned with care — knees bent, elbows tucked, head just level with the arc of the blind — reflecting a deep knowledge of the stillness and precision required for this moment. The curved screen shields movement from the seal’s gaze, while the hunter’s gaze remains fixed and unwavering. Carved in the 1960s in Inukjuak, the sculpture is rendered in a richly variegated stone, its fiery orange and gold tones animating the surface with warmth and depth.
