Molson, whose decades of service to the Canadian Guild of Crafts (now La Guilde) helped shape the promotion and recognition of Inuit art in Canada. Commissioned by the Guild in 1980 to mark thirty years since its groundbreaking 1949 exhibition of Inuit art, the print embodies the very history Molson championed. Technically sophisticated, printed on German etching paper using a combination of stone and aluminum plates, and heightened with acrylics by Pudlo, the work stands as both an artistic achievement and a tribute to the Guild’s role in elevating Inuit art. For Molson, a passionate advocate of craft and Indigenous art, this print would have symbolized not only institutional milestones but also his own enduring commitment to cultural preservation and innovation.Provenance
