Born in Qiniq Camp on the west coast of Baffin Island, Keeleemeeoomee moved to Cape Dorset around 1966 with her second husband, Samuellie Tunnillie, and their family, where she became engaged in carving and drawing. Between 1969 and 1983, forty-three of Keeleemeeoomee’s works were featured in the Cape Dorset Annual Print Collections. Her graphic works depict various forms of Arctic wildlife as well as scenes from Inuit life, often drawn from childhood memories. While she may not have been a prolific sculptor, known examples, such as this lovely seal, prove that she was exceptionally gifted.
