Its outstretched arms seem to test the air, searching for equilibrium, while the fused legs root it firmly to the base below. The mottled surface bears the natural texture of the material, smooth in places, roughened in others, where the carver’s hand has drawn light across it. The figure seems almost weightless, as if poised to spring, yet remains suspended in perfect stillness.Provenance
