Through the delicate transitions made possible by the aquatint process, shades of radiant blue emerge and recede across the surface. These cool tones shimmer against the muted ground, creating a sense of depth. Each layer of ink seems to hold a breath, the colour shifting almost imperceptibly as the eye lingers, revealing the pulse of movement of the char beneath the icy water.
