ESTIMATE: $350 — $500Further imagesFrom the tenth Baker Lake Print Collection catalogue, Char is another subtlely bold work by William Noah. Centred and framed by empty white paper, this fish has been printed with bold colours for a bright pop. As a step away from his more colour-blocked works, Char has a beautiful mottle of shades that have been stencilled over each other. This char has some movement too, mouth slightly ajar as it goes for the hook, dangling from the top edge of the paper.
This work was from the tenth Baker Lake Print Collection catalogue, the first if its kind to contain a suite of prints without any stonecut prints. One cannot help but note the similarities to the 2020 Kinngait print, First Catch by Pauojoungie Saggiak.ProvenanceA Toronto Collection.
